Welcome to ROTI, a leading packaging printer specializing in barrier-coated functional packaging. With a rich history dating back to the mid-twentieth century, ROTI has continuously evolved and pioneered the industry.

The founder, Max Wendel, anchored sustainability in the DNA of our company. From the beginning, we have been at the forefront of environmentally friendly practices. In the 1970s, we were one of the first users of water-based printing inks in the flexographic printing industry.

Research & Development

Innovation is deeply rooted in our corporate culture. With a strong focus on the corrugated industry, we laid the foundations for the production of preprint rolls in the 1970s with the installation of Germany’s first preprint press. In the early 1980s, we were the first independent print shop in Europe with this prepress width when we installed our 2.45 m wide 6-color flexo press. This was followed by expansion into printing paper rolls for flexible packaging (known as “vending machine rolls”), which meet the packaging needs of dry goods such as sugar, flour and salt.

As part of the expansion of our portfolio, we have introduced special coatings such as anti-static, anti-slip, anti-grease and protective coatings. As demand for paper-plastic composites increased, we recognized the need to address the problem of plastic contamination. In response, we have developed our latest product innovation: high-barrier fiber-based materials. These barriers are free of microplastics, fully recyclable and compostable at home – an ethical and sustainable alternative to existing packaging.

At Roti, we have been dedicated for several years to developing our own industrial process innovations to provide reliable, high volume and cost effective flexographic barrier coatings on fiber based mono substrates (paper/board). The result is coated fiber-based materials with exceptional functional performance. These barrier coatings provide remarkable durability, moisture resistance (water repellent and vapor barrier), grease resistance and oxygen barriers to maintain product freshness.
